$ 10 million from Michael Jordan to his hometown: Healthcare for those with poor financial situation

One of the world’s greatest basketball players, US star Michael Jordan donated $ 10 million to open two new medical clinics in his hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina.

The clinics, scheduled to open in 2022, will serve uninsured or uninsured people in Wilmington’s New Hanover County area.

“Wilmington has a special place in my heart. It is really gratifying to be able to help those who support me throughout my life,” said the NBA legend, “Everybody should have access to quality healthcare wherever they live, whether they have insurance or not.”

NOT FIRST AID

Jordan’s help will not be his first aid, as he owns the Charlotte Hornets from the NBA teams. In 2017, he donated $ 7 million to the district health service Novant Health to open two clinics in Charlotte, pledging to fund people with little or no health care.

The first medical clinic, which was opened in partnership with Novant Health and Michael Jordan, started to serve in 2019, and had provided Covid-19 screening test services to more than 13 thousand people last year.
