BioNTech / Pfizer started freeze-dried vaccine studies – Health News

Developing the first approved Covid-19 vaccine in the world, BioNTech and its partner Pfizer announced that a freeze-dried version of the Covid-19 vaccine will begin to be tested.

It is stated that the clinical trials approved by the US government and companies will be administered to adults between the ages of 18 and 55 in the USA next month, while it is stated that if the vaccine is effective, it can facilitate the storage and use of vaccines in rural areas and low-income countries of the USA.

TRIALS WILL TAKE TWO MONTHS

According to the report of the Wall Street Journal, it was stated that the research will take about 2 months, while it was announced that some of the subjects would be frozen, while the normal version would be applied to the other part.

According to the statement from Pfizer, it was stated that the new formula will be ready for use at the beginning of next year, while the frozen and dried vaccines called lyophilized are advantageous because they only need to be cooled compared to liquid vaccines.

It was stated that if lyophilized vaccines are successful, it will be easier to deliver vaccines to rural areas and low-income countries without special cooling equipment, while herd immunity can be reached more easily.
