Cuba’s Covid-19 vaccine Abdala is 92.28 percent effective


From Cuba, where studies have been carried out for the new type of corona virus (Covid-19) vaccines for a while, it has been announced that the vaccine called “Abdala” is 92.28 percent effective.

In the Twitter post of the Cuban Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center (CIGB), it was stated that the effectiveness of the produced anti Covid-19 dose was 92.28 percent, “Cuba has 5 vaccine candidates today, Soberana 02 with 62 percent effectiveness and Abdala with 92.28 percent effectiveness. “These are already considered vaccines. Cuba will be the first country to vaccinate its population with its own means,” the statement said.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel also expressed their great pleasure in sharing the news of the vaccine on Twitter and said, “I am giving you this news with the joy of the successful results of the Soberana 02 and Abdala vaccines. Abdala’s activity is something to be proud of. Despite all the obstacles, our scientists tell us. They gave 2 very effective vaccines,” he said.

Cuba announced on March 19 that one of the ongoing vaccines has been approved for human trials and will be tried on approximately 48 thousand people aged 19 to 80.
