While the vaccine dose applied in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic approached 1 billion, it was announced that Israel, one of the most successful countries in vaccination, did not experience death from Covid-19 the other day.
In the statement made by the Israeli Ministry of Health, the number of people who died in the country due to the corona virus remained at 6,346.
‘WE ARE REMOVING THE CORONA VIRUS’
Stating that the last date in the country where there is no loss of life from Covid is June 2020, Minister of Health Yuli Edelstein said, “This is a tremendous success for the health system and Israeli citizens. Together, we are eliminating the corona virus.”
While the Ministry of Health reports that more than 53 percent of the country’s population of 9 million has been vaccinated, according to Bloomberg data, two doses of Covid-19 vaccine have already been administered to 55.3 percent of the population in the country.
Last week, Eyal Leshem, director of the Sheba Medical Center, Israel’s largest hospital, said the country could be close to “herd immunity”.
APPROXIMATELY 55 PERCENT OF THE POPULATION WERE TWO DOSE VACCINATED
World Health Organization (WHO) experts stated that at least 65-70 percent of a population should receive two doses of vaccine before herd immunity is achieved.
In Israel, which started to vaccinate in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic on December 19, the number of people with two doses of vaccine exceeded 5 million, which corresponds to 55 percent of the population, while more than 300 thousand people received a single dose of vaccine.
While the average weekly loss of life from Covid in Israel was 4, quarantine measures in the country were loosened day by day.
