The World Health Organization made statements about the Delta variant, which has recently spread effectively in many countries, especially the United Kingdom.
The organization said the variant is the fastest and most appropriate strain of coronavirus to select the most vulnerable people.
The executive director of WHO’s health emergencies program, Dr. Mike Ryan made statements about the Delta variant at his press conference.
VACCINE CALL TO WORLD LEADERS AND PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS
“The Delta variant, first identified in India, can be more lethal because it can be transmitted more quickly between people,” said Ryan. “The variant has the potential to find people who will become seriously ill, hospitalized or die as a result.”
Dr. Mike Ryan said world leaders and public health officials can help protect vulnerable people from the virus by donating and distributing Covid vaccines.
‘FAILING TO PROTECT PEOPLE IS A DIFFICULT ETHICAL FAILURE’
“We can protect these vulnerable people, those on the front lines against the virus,” said Ryan, executive director of WHO’s health emergencies program. It’s a moral failure,” he said.
The WHO said on Friday that the Delta variant had become the dominant variant in cases around the world.
