Five doses of vaccine were accidentally given instead of one

In Germany, a person was accidentally given five doses of corona virus vaccine instead of one.

The incident took place at the vaccination center in Schwerin, the capital of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. According to the news in the newspaper Schwerins Volkszeitung, a person at the center was given a vaccine containing 5 times more doses than usual.

Upon realizing the mistake made, the person in question was hospitalized. Authorities announced that the person was in good health and was kept in the hospital for observation.

The director of the vaccination campaign in Schwerin told the newspaper that the incident was “regrettable”, saying that the error was caused by mixing the diluted vaccine bottles with the undiluted bottles before use.

There are 5 doses of vaccine in the bottles where the vaccine, developed in partnership with BioNTech / Pfizer and protected under special storage conditions, is kept. While vaccination is being made, each dose of vaccine is diluted and watched.

In Germany, where extraordinary restrictions were imposed due to the third wave, 24,329 new cases were seen in the last 24 hours. The number of those who are still infected is 303 thousand 600. With 306 people dying from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the number of deaths has increased to 82 thousand 850 since the beginning of the epidemic.

The vaccination process, which has progressed slowly for a long time due to the difficulties and delays in vaccine supply and distribution in Germany, has gained momentum in recent days. In just one day yesterday, 916,388 people across Germany were vaccinated. To date, 26.9 percent of Germany’s population has had at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine. The rate of those who have completed the necessary vaccines for full protection is only 7.7 percent.
