Israel: Pfizer-BionTech vaccine prevents 98.9 percent deaths in Covid-19 outbreak

The Israeli Ministry of Health shared with the public the data of the study comparing the health status of those who received both doses of the Pfizer-BionTech vaccine in the country with those who were not vaccinated. It was stated that the vaccine in question prevented 98.9 percent of deaths caused by the virus in people who were given both doses. It was stated that the vaccine prevented the severe course of the disease by 99.2 percent and reduced hospitalizations by 98.9 percent.

In another study published in Israel on February 11, it was reported that none of the 523 thousand people who received the second dose of the Pfizer-BionTech vaccine died due to Covid-19.

According to the data of the Ministry of Health, the first dose of the vaccine was administered to 4 million 250 thousand 643 people in Israel, which has a population of approximately 9.3 million, and the second dose was given to 2 million 881 thousand 825 people.

While 5 thousand 526 people have died in the country due to the virus, the total number of cases has exceeded 744 thousand.
