Participants in the study lost an average of 15.3 kg. Along with the weight loss, there was a decrease in risk factors for heart disease and diabetes, such as fat around the waist, fat in the blood, blood sugar and blood pressure. In addition, improvements were noted in the quality of life of the volunteers.

Semaglutide, produced by Novo Nordisk, is mainly used in the treatment of Type 2 diabetes.
