In the research of the Presidency Digital Transformation Office, it was stated that digital devices can cause mental and physical discomfort when used for a long time and uncontrolled.

According to the research, about 33 percent of a day is spent on the internet and 12 percent on social media. According to Hürriyet’s report, the research also revealed new social media disturbances. Here are some of them:

EGO SURFING: Search engine constant self-search disease. In such a situation, the social media user constantly searches for his own name in the search engine, wondering what is happening about him in the digital world.

PHOTOLURKING: In the “photolurking” disease, which is a combination of the words photo and lurker in English, the social media user unwittingly looks at other people’s photos for hours.

CYBERHONDRIC: Searching disease and treatment method on the Internet. In this disease, the person is trying to diagnose and treat the disease he thinks he has by searching on the internet.

NOMOFOBİ: The feeling of fear and anxiety experienced in the absence of communication tools was named as “nomophobia” disease. In this disease, which is the abbreviation of the words “no mobile phone” in English, the social media user is anxious if access devices such as phones and tablets are not available.


The research also included disturbances caused by the use of a mouse and keyboard. It was stated that there may be nerve compression while using a mouse and keyboard, and there may be numbness and pain in the wrists and fingers. It was noted that sensitive and careful attention should be paid to these pains.
