Scientific Committee member explained: What if the colors on the map change? – Health News

Stating that there are 4 important criteria in the on-site decision algorithm, Professor of the Ministry of Health Coronavirus Social Sciences Committee and Dean of Gazi University Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Mustafa Necmi İlhan said that these 4 criteria are defined as low, medium, high and very high risk according to the situation in the provinces.

Prof. Dr. İlhan said, “There are 4 important criteria in the on-site decision algorithm. That is why all our citizens, for example, if they are blue, the provinces they are in must make an effort to keep them blue. Not only the citizens, but also the operators, the administrators in that province, the whole society should actually be in a similar effort. We witness, indeed, our managers put a lot of effort into it, but the society and the operators in those provinces also have to obey these rules. If it is blue, how do I get fewer numbers in blue, if it is yellow, how do I drop to blue, if it is orange, how do I drop to yellow, if it is red then how do I drop to orange and yellow, our citizens and our businesses in that city need to think. As I said, they work very hard ”.

Underlining that citizens have more to do with the on-site decision-making mechanism, Scientific Committee Member Prof. Dr. Mustafa Necmi İlhan explained the road map to follow if the number of cases increases and the colors change on the maps with the following words:

“It will change as follows if the colors change; once you know the weekend restriction is lifted in ‘low and medium risk’ provinces. In provinces with ‘high and very high’, namely ‘orange and red’, it continues on Sunday. So let’s think like this; instead of being out for 2 days on the weekend, it may fall to 1 day. Or, if the number of cases increases too much in that province itself, it may be closed completely at the weekend with the decision of the Provincial Hygiene Board. Again, one of the important components is the education in high schools, you know. Education continues in high schools in medium and low risk provinces. If the color turns orange and red, that is, if it is high and very high risk, this time face-to-face education in high schools in these provinces may be closed. We know well how important face-to-face training is in education and that it should be opened as soon as possible. Another important issue is places such as restaurants, cafeterias, restaurants. Indeed, the tradesmen of these regions were also in a very difficult situation, they were in a very difficult situation. The state developed an algorithm and an opening was made accordingly. Of course, there is a time limitation, there is a capacity restriction. If we turn to red, when we look at the businesses here, it will be a matter of closure. If there is a similar closure on weekends, the citizen will still fall behind socializing and our businesses may experience difficult situations. Another important group is our elders over the age of 65 and our youth under the age of 20. As you know, while the curfew restrictions of ‘medium and low’ level, that is, in ‘blue and yellow’ colors, were lifted for this group, in these provinces, the time was extended to be widely outside. But if these provinces turn orange and red again, this time our elders and young people under the age of 20 will have a hard time going out. Therefore, when we look at these 4 components, obviously, with the awareness that color change, especially orange or even red color change, will cause more difficulties for the society in the provinces, we all take a large part of the precautions; society, business operators and public administrators need to do more. Of course, there is never an end to the efforts. “

Stating that regional-based changes are observed in the map, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Necmi İlhan said, “When the map was first announced, starting from the Thrace Region, Edirne was red there first, and our other provinces were lighter. There is a dark color starting from Edirne and going to Sakarya. At the same time, the same is true in the Black Sea. There are provinces in the Black Sea with a stable number of cases, there are provinces turning it down. But there are also provinces accelerating upwards. Beyond that, when we look at the Aegean and Central Anatolia Regions, there is a darkening of colors. Likewise, when we come to Eastern Anatolia, there is a way to go from blue to yellow. Unfortunately, there are also provinces in the Mediterranean Region whose color turns darker. “This is a period in which all of us should obey much more rules.”

Prof. Dr. İlhan said, “We need to know that the current cases mostly consist of cases before the normalization period. You know, as of March 1, the normalization period has started in our country. If we count 10 days, it will be revealed as of March 11 how effective this normalization is on the cases. Since the map, which will be valid for the next 15 days, will be announced at the weekend, we all need to make an effort to comply with the rules from now on, and also the indoor environments must be well ventilated. Otherwise, there may be a change in colors, ”he said.
